Doritos Flavours

What are all the Doritos Flavours?

Doritos Flavours - A Brief Summary

The first two Doritos flavours were "Toasted Corn" and "Taco". Doritos were more popular in the early '70s when "Nacho Cheese" flavour was produced. A handful of Doritos flavours have been produced over the years, and the flavours that have been produced for the longest period of time are "Cool Ranch" and "Nacho Cheese".

Doritos Collisions

Doritos Collisions

"Doritos Collisions" were introduced later, in which, two different flavours were packaged in the same bag. The five flavour combinations of Doritos Collisions are "Cheesy Enchilada" / "Sour Cream", "Habanero" / "Guacamole", "Hot Wings" / "Blue Cheese", "Pizza Cravers" / "Ranch", and "Zesty Taco" / "Chipotle Ranch".

Doritos Flavours and Branding

Pizza Cravers In the '90s, Doritos teamed up with PepsiCo fast food brands, to produce the following two new flavours: Taco Bell's "Taco Supreme" and Pizza Hut's "Pizza Cravers". Due to some complications, Taco Bell's "Taco Supreme" was later renamed to simply "Taco". This Taco flavour was much different than the original Taco flavour. In the same way, Pizza Hut's "Pizza Cravers" was renamed as "Pizza", and the "Pizza" flavour was withdrawn in some areas. In certain parts of the USA, the remaining "Taco" flavour is identical to the "Taco Supreme" flavour. The "Pizza Cravers" flavour, is presented in the Doritos Collisions package "Pizza Cravers" / "Ranch". The original "Taco" flavour (originally created in the '60s) along with the "Four Cheese" flavour were reintroduced and labelled "Back by Popular Demand" in 2008.

There were three very spicy flavours introduced in 2010: "1st Degree Burn Blazin' Jalapeno", "2nd Degree Burn Fiery Buffalo", and "Third Degree Burn Scorchin' Habanero". Frito Lay cross-promoted these Doritos flavours with sister company PepsiCo's Pepsi Max "Cease Fire". The new flavour of Pepsi was designed to combat the three new hot spicy Doritos flavours. All of these products were only available for a limited time.

Unidentified Doritos Flavours

X-13D Doritos started a new trend in 2007 by introducing a campaign named "Doritos X-13D Flavour Experiment," in which, bags of Doritos were labelled as unidentified. Consumers had the task of identifying and naming the flavour. The only clue on the bags was the "All American Classic" identification. Later, the flavour was classified as "Cheeseburger".

Doritos introduced a "Mystery Flavour" Quest in 2008. Prizes were being awarded as puzzles related to the mystery were solved by consumers. It was later discovered that the flavour was "Mountain Dew".

Two new flavours were released in 2009 under the label "Doritos Late Night". The flavours were named "Last Call Jalapeno Popper" and "Tacos at Midnight". The X-13D unidentified flavour (identified as "Cheeseburger") was re-released under the name "All Nighter Cheeseburger".

Scream Cheese In Canada, during the Super Bowl XLIII, Doritos broadcasted a "Chip Hat" commercial, which advertised a new Unidentified Flavour and offered a prize of CDN $25,000 + 1% of all associated sales to a person who could name the unidentified flavour, and also create an advertisement for the flavour. The winner was Ryan Coopersmith of Montreal, with the winning name "Scream Cheese" - or "Fromage Fracassant" in French (Refer to the link on the left sidebar for Doritos Guru.)

In early 2010 in Canada, the Doritos Viralocity contest was announced. The winner Jeff Chan, and partners David Fradkin and Patrick Lo, produced the video "Doritos Tablet" which received the most Viralocity points to win the top prize of CAD$100,000. The "Doritos Tablet" video can be viewed here.
